How to install: LS400 / GS300 / GS400 Steering Column Gear (Installation Guide)
This guide is for 89-94 Lexus LS400 GS300 and GS400 steering wheel motor Gear, please note. This guide will provide enough info for all trims but is not specifically suited for one, variation of the steps may be required.
Video:
First, make sure you have the Necessary tools for the job.
10MM Socket
Small Flathead screwdriver or Scrib
1.
Carefully Remove the Steering column cover, and cap (if installed) covering the motor.
2.
Using the 10mm socket loosen the bolt securing the damaged gear, remove bolt and washer (if present) with hand.
3.
Carefully Pry out the damaged gear by applying pressure to 4 opposing ends and pulling with the scrib or screwdriver, take
care not to damage the housing or motor.

Once damaged gear is removed test and Visually inspect the motor function, motor should turn freely.
5.
Insert New gear and lightly adjust the motor using the switch to make the gear sit correctly.
6.
Replace the bolt and washer, hand tighten the bolt and adjust the motor once more to be sure the gear is set correctly.
7.
Replace cap and cover in the reverse order they came off.
